5/15 Dr Visit, D Day and OMG!

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007

We had our final pre baby Dr visit this morning.  With one last ultrasound.  And guess what?  Baby is still growing some. Todays estimate was at 9.2 lbs.  And my belly measured at 44 weeks.  Which is probably due to extra fluid.

So, that being said, we are now scheduled for a c section on Saturday. Looks like Stephen’s birthday will be the 19th. Unless he decides to be here before then that is. :) Won’t know the time of the c section until Friday though.

How am I feeling about it all?  Well….my thoughts are running rampant.  From OMG! I’m having a baby on Saturday to Wow! I’m finally going to meet Stephen, this VERY active little being inside of me.  As well as OMG!  I still have a ton of stuff to do.  My emotions are a little off the charts as well. From elated to terrified.  I imagine these are feelings I will be feeling from time to time as Stephen grows up.  As well as many others.  But I know together with Michael by my side, we’ll all be just fine.

So keep us in your prayers, weigh in on the contest if you  haven’t yet and we’ll keep ya posted.

Stephens Birthday!

Saturday, May 12th, 2007

I have created this thread to centralize the many requests we have gotten to call and notify all of you about the birth of Stephen.  Things may happen in the hospital that may not allow me to call everyone.  Since we both have so many friends and family, this is an easy way for me to post information, pictures and events that occur in one place for all to read.  I will of course make posts and provide pictures when convenient to Laura.

Please click on “comments” below. Then use the feature at the bottom of that page that allows you to “subscribe to this thread without making a comment”. MAKE SURE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS IS TYPED I CORRECTLY !

What’s in a name?

Friday, May 11th, 2007

Naming our new addition was a difficult one.  For Michael that is.

I was never one of those little girls that had her wedding planned before she was 12 or had her babies names picked out.  I was too busy outside playing and skinning my knees.  Not from playing too hard, but from inherited clumsiness.

So, seeing as it was a boy, Michael took on the task.  I did have one request…that he not name him Michael.  That was because we have lots of Michael’s in our family already and every Michael I’ve ever known in my life has been trouble. (Sorry Sweetie XOXOXXO)

Stephen’s first name comes from  Michael’s uncle Stephen.  Who he adored growing up and still adores and loves to this day.  He was the kind of uncle that let Michael, at 11 years of age, drive his car all over town every time they went anywhere together.  So what boy or man could pass up paying homage to an uncle like that? J  And silly me thought Michael was a name to stay away from. LOL  In all seriousness, his uncle Stephen is a wonderful man, with an amazing outlook on life.  I can only hope that our son has the same outlook.

Stephen’s middle name comes from Michael’s very long and dear friend, and mentor, Burt Riley Waters. Burt was his best man at our wedding and has been a guiding light in Michael’s life for over 20 years.  He too is an amazing example for our son.

He did struggle with wanting to use Michael as Stephen’s middle name.  And I gave in and said if he really wanted to, I was ok with it.  But I think he made the better choices in honoring two very special men in his life.  Stephen Riley Jansma….and it sounds pretty good too.

The Chad

Holy cow Laura! I had no idea that Stephen was getting so big! At first, I couldn’t figure out why you would automatically schedule a C section. Well, I now see the sliiiiight complication. What have you been eating? GNC Bulk-Up products???

Don’t forget…

Don’t forget to visit “Guess the Birth Weight…” You could win a $50.00 shopping spree from www.gemaffair.com.  And in case you have not noticed from my last post and the shower pictures, I’m ENORMOUS.  So I can’t wait to see what you all come up with. :)

Good Luck!

05/09/07 Dr. Visit

Wednesday, May 9th, 2007

Ok, for all of you who are wondering when I’m finally going to have this baby.

Well…

Still not sure. J

We have a tentative C section date on the 19th. Which will put me just over 39 weeks.

My belly is still measuring at 43 weeks.  But not sure if Stephen has grown any bigger than the 8.9 lbs as measured last week.

Next weeks Dr visit will include another ultrasound.  Which will tell us a little more.

Doc says unless I go naturally between now and the 19th, the c section is most likely to happen. And me going naturally anytime soon is pretty slim.  I have had no contractions (not even Braxton Hicks)  and am not dilated in the least.

Good news is, we did another stress test today on the baby and he is doing great. And despite my puffy hands, face and humongous feet, my blood pressure is still low.

We’ll keep you all posted on the next chapter.

Hugs!

BTW - the 19th happens to be Michael’s lucky number.  So we can’t go wrong with that date. :)

According to “daddy bootcamp” (one of five classes I have taken in preparation for this kid) the diaper genie is a Dad’s best friend. Right next to a mother ! The diaper genie allows the containment and storage of diapers filled with poo and other unmentionables to the sanitary delights of all who enter their space. In other words, they make the diaper smell “disappear”.  I will confirm later if I agree.

 Thanks Phylis (Laura’s Mom).
